Assistant Food Editor

We are a small but thriving NYC- and Amsterdam-based content marketing company concentrating on cross-platform food and recipe content and strategy. We are looking for an enthusiastic New York City-based candidate with professional recipe writing and editing skills who can dive right into a junior position helping our Food Director and Senior Food Editor handle the increasing amount of print, digital, and video work we create. Responsibilities Brainstorm recipe and food story ideas for print and social media that match our client’s branding. Review recipes in magazines, web content, and videos for accuracy, consistency, and style guidelines. Assist Food Director with recipe development. Gather inspirational food images for presentations. Tag recipes and digital content for SEO; write recipe headnotes. Research and keep up with food trends for magazine and social media content appropriate for our clients’ brands. As needed, assist with recipe testing. Take the lead on general office duties like ordering lunch, buying office supplies, etc. Qualifications Must have at least 1 year in food media dealing specifically with recipe content. Formal culinary education and recipe editing is a strong plus. Highly organized with attention to detail. Able to pick up new skills quickly and accurately. Good communication skills and ability to handle feedback. Experience working with clients. Passion for food and cooking a must. This is not a remote position: Must be able to come into our lower Manhattan office several times a week. Able to work remotely productively, efficiently, and without supervision.
