Associate Director, Financial Planning & Analysis

Overview United Therapeutics is the first publicly‑traded biotech/biopharma public benefit corporation focused on developing novel therapies for rare diseases and expanding transplantable organ availability. Position The Associate Director, Financial Planning & Analysis will serve as a trusted thought partner at the intersection of finance, operations, and strategy. The role leads forecasting and planning, guides long‑term operating models, and partners with R&D and other leaders to drive informed decision‑making and sustainable growth. Responsibilities Devise and execute strategies to partner with budget managers to facilitate understanding of the financial impact of operations Execute FP&A processes aligned with short‑term goals and contribute to strategic planning Develop and implement detailed 3‑to‑5 year operating forecasts for all departments Lead a team that supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial processes aligned with organizational objectives Identify financial risks, communicate to senior leadership, and recommend actions Assist in delivery of new processes and technology that improve financial outcomes Develop executive presentation material for FP&A reporting Ensure efficient processes that address transactions impacting financials Collaborate to provide financial information for preparation of financial processes Recommend alternatives to reduce cost and improve financial performance Assemble and summarize data to structure sophisticated reports on financial status and risk Perform or oversee complex financial reconciliations, forecasting, and operational metric tracking Partner with corporate accounting and finance to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial statements Direct and manage direct reports, including training, goal setting, performance evaluation, coaching, mentoring, career development, and recruitment support Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or related major 12+ years of experience in a finance role with business operations knowledge (or 10+ years with a Master’s Degree) Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) Prior ERP system experience Effective communication across all organization levels Strong analytical and quantitative problem‑solving skills Experience reporting on and presenting information Flexibility and adaptability Experience in a large organization Strong organizational and time‑management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Resilience in stressful environments Multitasking capability Clear understanding of financial modeling and forecasting Management and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree Location RTP, NC office. Hybrid role: minimum three days per week in the office, with potential increase as business needs.
