Position Summary
The Recruitment and Benefits Communication Specialist owns two of the most important messages Reliant Transportation Group sends to teammates: why to join the company and how to get full value from the pay and benefits the company provides. The Specialist plans, writes, designs, and distributes recruitment marketing and benefits communication for more than 20 service centers across Minnesota and Wisconsin, turning open positions and complex plan details into clear, accurate, creative, and compelling messages in the Reliant brand voice in concert with the Talent Acquisition leader.
The role divides evenly between two portfolios.
- On the recruitment side, the Specialist builds and maintains the employer brand, writes campaign content, manages careers site and social media content related to recruiting and retention, equips service centers for local hiring events.
- On the benefits side, the Specialist partners with Human Resources and the Compensation and Benefits leader to plan and deliver open enrollment communication, produce benefit guides and total rewards materials, and run year-round education that helps teammates understand, appreciate and use every benefit the company offers.
The Specialist reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications and serves Human Resources and service center leadership as primary internal clients. The role is a collaborative, hands-on role that blends project a project management mindset and discipline with high levels of creativity. Success requires strong writing, sound judgment with confidential and regulated information, and the ability to make technical material easy to act on for a workforce of drivers, technicians, dispatchers, and office teammates who spend most of the workday away from a desk.
Essential Responsibilities
- Own the employer brand and the candidate message. Develop and maintain the employer value proposition, messaging framework, and visual standards for all recruiting materials; ensure every posting, flyer, advertisement, and event display speaks in one Reliant voice and reflects the Safety, Community, Integrity, and Service principles.
- Plan and run recruitment marketing campaigns and channels. Build and execute campaign calendars across job boards, paid social, search, radio, print, community partnerships, and the teammate referral program; manage budget, vendors, and creative; maintain careers site content, service center location pages, testimonials, and the photo and video library; track cost per applicant and cost per hire by channel and move spend to what works.
- Equip service centers to hire locally. Produce the hiring event kits, yard signs, banners, bus signage, referral cards, community flyers, and a multitude of marketing tools to be determined that each service center needs; support job fairs, school district events, and open houses in person across the region; train location leaders to use recruiting materials correctly and consistently.
- Leverage digital tools throughout the career journey. Design and maintain candidate to teammate communication templates and tools ranging using ATS data, SEO, SEM, and other data sources to attract and retain teammates with Human Resources and location leaders.
- Lead open enrollment communication end to end. Support the Comp and Benefits leader in the annual open enrollment communication plan, timeline, and message sequence with Human Resources and the benefits broker; produce enrollment guides, 401K and profit sharing communications, videos, FAQs, meeting decks, and manager talking points; deliver on-site and virtual enrollment sessions across service centers; hit enrollment deadlines.
- Make benefits easy to understand and use all year. Produce benefit guides, total rewards statements, new-hire benefits orientation materials, and a monthly education calendar covering medical, dental, vision, retirement, HSA and FSA accounts, life and disability coverage, the employee assistance program, wellness, and life-event changes; answer teammate questions on plan basics and route claims and eligibility issues to Human Resources and the broker.
- Protect accuracy and compliance in every benefits message. Verify plan details against carrier, broker, and plan-document sources before release; coordinate distribution of required notices — summary plan descriptions, summaries of benefits and coverage, and annual notices — with Human Resources; maintain version control and an archive of all published materials; handle teammate information in line with HIPAA and company confidentiality policy.
- Run the internal channels teammates actually see. Maintain recruiting and benefits content on bulletin boards, driver room monitors, the HRIS and intranet portals, text and email lists, and paycheck communications so messages reach teammates who spend the workday on the road, not at a desk; write in plain language so every teammate can act on the message without a follow-up call.
- Measure, report, and improve. Track recruiting funnel metrics — applications, cost per applicant, time to fill, and source of hire — and benefits communication metrics — enrollment participation, on-time elections, inquiry volume, and survey results; report monthly to Marketing and Human Resources leadership; recommend and implement improvements each cycle.
Key Performance Indicators
Success in this role may be measured through:
- Applicant volume and cost per applicant by channel and service center
- Time to fill and source of hire for driver and non-driving roles
- Careers site traffic and application start-to-completion rate
- Open enrollment participation rate and share of elections completed on time
- Benefits inquiry volume and resolution time during and after enrollment
- Teammate understanding of benefits, measured through engagement survey and post-enrollment survey results
- On-time, error-free delivery of required benefit notices and campaign deliverables
- Service center leader, Human Resources, and benefits broker feedback

- Sound judgment and discretion with confidential teammate information; familiarity with HIPAA, ERISA disclosure basics, and equal employment opportunity requirements for recruitment advertising.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to service centers across Minnesota and Wisconsin, including occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends for hiring events and enrollment meetings.
Preferred:
- Experience in transportation, logistics, or another multi-site, hourly, field-based workforce.
