Job Summary/Objectives of Role

Responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships, growing sales within an assigned territory, and identifying new business opportunities. The Outside Sales Representative serves as a primary point of contact for customers and is expected to take ownership of their territory, customer needs, sales opportunities, and follow-through while providing superior customer service.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while actively pursuing new business opportunities.
• Regularly visit customers and prospects within the assigned territory to build relationships, identify needs, and generate sales.
• Prospect for new customers and develop opportunities to expand Austin Hose's market presence.
• Maintain consistent and timely follow-up with customers, prospects, quotes, orders, and sales opportunities.
• Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and sales information within company systems.
• Work closely with Inside Sales, Front Counter, Operations, and other team members to ensure customer needs are handled accurately and efficiently.
• Communicate customer requirements clearly and assist with resolving order, delivery, product, or service issues.
• Prepare and follow up on quotes and proposals in a timely manner.
• Monitor customer activity and identify opportunities to increase sales and expand product offerings.
• Maintain knowledge of Austin Hose products, services, capabilities, and applicable industry solutions.
• Communicate market conditions, customer needs, competitive activity, and potential opportunities to management.
• Participate in sales meetings, training, company events, and other required activities.
• Manage assigned territory efficiently, including scheduling customer visits and prioritizing sales opportunities.
• Maintain professional and timely communication through company-approved communication channels.
• Follow all Austin Hose sales, operational, safety, documentation, and company procedures.
• Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and complete tasks without repeated follow-up from management.
• Travel within the assigned territory as required to effectively support customers and develop business.
• Willingness to be flexible, including working outside normal business hours when necessary, performing responsibilities not specifically identified in the job description, and assuming new responsibilities for the betterment of Austin Hose.

Requirements

Required Skills and Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in business, marketing, sales, or related field preferred.
• Previous outside sales, industrial sales, or business development experience preferred.
• Strong sales, relationship-building, negotiation, and customer service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple customers, opportunities, and priorities.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency, accountability, and ownership.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively as a member of the team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning company sales and operating systems.
• Professional appearance and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and meet company driving requirements.
• Must be willing and able to travel regularly within the assigned sales territory.
