This approach connects treatments and doctors working together to heal both the body and mind for total well-being.We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant Extern for Meridian Health Pediatrics located in Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana.This externship will provide the candidate with the following learning opportunities:Answering phone callsGreeting clientsUpdating patient informationFilling out insurance paperwork and prior approvalsHelping the provider to complete arrangements for referrals, admissions and laboratory referrals.Clinical duties include:Taking vitals and weightGiving injectionsAssist providersPass medicationsScreen provider phone calls and assist with problem callsGive TB tests for new employeesMedication passes, including patient assistance medsTrain to cover other MA's and their dutiesDispose of contaminated suppliesFax and phoning in of patient medications to other pharmaciesMaintain confidentiality and use good judgment within the limits of the CMA guidelines and follow department policies and proceduresQualifications:Must be currently enrolled in an Accredited Medical Assisting Program requiring an externshipDrug screen, TB test, extensive background check, and fingerprinting are required of all Meridian employees.
