The Opportunity

As Division Director, you will provide strategic, academic, and clinical leadership for a dynamic and growing division within the Department of Family & Community Medicine. You will work collaboratively with health system, medical school, and university leadership to advance Jefferson's mission through excellence in patient care, education, research, and faculty development.

This position offers the opportunity to:

• Define and execute the strategic vision for the Division of Geriatric Medicine

• Expand innovative clinical programs and age-friendly models of care

• Advance nationally recognized education and fellowship programs

• Strengthen interdisciplinary research and scholarly activity

• Mentor and develop faculty while cultivating the next generation of geriatric medicine leaders

• Foster collaboration across Jefferson Health, Sidney Kimmel Medical College, and Thomas Jefferson University

About the Division

The Division of Geriatric Medicine is comprised of nine faculty members practicing within a highly collaborative, interprofessional environment supported by:

• Advanced Practice Clinicians

• Social Workers

• Clinical Pharmacists

• Nursing professionals

• Dedicated administrative staff

The Division provides comprehensive care across multiple clinical settings, including:

• The Center for Healthy Aging , offering primary care geriatrics and comprehensive memory assessment

• A dedicated PRIDE Program serving LGBTQIA+ older adults

• Community-based ambulatory practice in South Philadelphia

• Embedded Geriatric Oncology services within the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center

• Inpatient consultation services at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Methodist Hospital

• Acute Care for Elders (ACE) Unit

• Residential and post-acute care services

• Home-Based Primary Care Program

Leadership Responsibilities

The Division Director will:

• Establish and implement a strategic vision for continued divisional growth

• Lead clinical operations, quality, and program development across geriatric services

• Expand innovative care delivery models for older adults

• Support faculty recruitment, mentorship, and career development

• Advance undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education

• Foster interdisciplinary collaboration throughout Jefferson Health

• Promote research growth and expand extramural funding opportunities

• Partner with departmental and institutional leadership to advance age-friendly care across the health system

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess:

• MD or DO degree

• Board Certification in Geriatric Medicine

• Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine

• Eligibility for Pennsylvania medical licensure

• Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership experience within an academic medical center

• Demonstrated success in clinical program development, faculty leadership, and strategic growth

• Strong record of peer-reviewed scholarship and academic achievement

• Experience with undergraduate and graduate medical education

• Regional or national recognition in Geriatric Medicine

• Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in care delivery
