Inspector II - Certified Weld Inspector

This opportunity entails being responsible for providing daily routine inventory and inspection of in-service assets in the transportation industry. This will require the ability to follow compliance with plans, specifications, standards, and other contract provisions. Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of highway structures throughout the state using common methods. Occasionally assist other service groups as needed for HNTB.

What You'll Do:

• Observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.

• Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform standard mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.

• Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.

• Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 3 years of construction related experience.

• All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.

What You'll Bring:

• A current American Weld Society, Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification.

• Ultrasound qualification – Current ASNT Level II (ASNT or per ASNT TC-1A guidelines) qualification in ultrasonic testing (UT) or relevant NDT training log documentation that would qualify for pursuing examination and certification.

• Recognizes and escalates discrepancies or conflicts within documents.

• Operates relevant testing equipment to assigned duties.

• Understands Microsoft Office Suite, PDFs, and other computer skills at an advanced level.

• Identifies, documents, and escalates change conditions.

What We Prefer:

• Physically capable of performing continuous field work, working in adverse weather conditions, and working alongside highways and/or railroads using traffic and protection services as needed, etc.

• OSHA 10 hour certification

• Willingness to learn and also help train and guide subordinate inspectors.

• Review other inspector's daily work reports.
