Duties

• Ensure all personnel who handle classified information or are assigned sensitive duties are appropriately cleared.
• Control and maintain appropriate access to databases for individual security program management.
• Use access control systems to manage classification of materials.
• Decide the security clearance level necessary for access to sensitive information, resources, material, or work sites.

Requirements Conditions of Employment

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
• Within the Department of Defense, the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
• This is a Mission Essential position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS 09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Enforcing protective measures for safeguarding information critical to national security; 2) Implementing procedures for marking, safeguarding, dissemination, transmission, transportation, escorting, hand-carry, storage and destruction of classified materials; 3) Ensuring personnel security clearance eligibility is continuously evaluated; 4) Submitting Personnel Security Investigation (PSI) applications through Electronic Questionnaires for Investigative Processing (e-QIP) or official system of record to track investigations to completion and adjudication; and 5) Reporting threats to national security, loss, compromise, electronic spillages, and other violations. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: FOR GS 11 Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, OR Have completed three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, OR Have completed an LL.M degree that is related to the position being filled.
