General Summary of the Job:

Under direct supervision of attending physician, X-Ray technician support doctors and helps patients by providing comprehensive diagnostic testing. X-Ray Technicians prepare patients to see the physician, perform X-Ray related duties, and perform other duties as directed. The goal is to work as a team with the medical assistants and other staff to support our doctors in providing quality patient care for optimal outcomes.

Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for operating the medical equipment used to capture x-ray images.
• Positioning the patient and the equipment in a way that protects patient and employee safety.
• Detailed knowledge of x-ray procedures and the ability to explain the procedures to patients.
• Must follow regulations for protecting patients, coworkers and themselves from unnecessary exposure to radiation from the equipment and environment.

• Comply with governmental protocols to ensure patient and employee safety through utilization of protective equipment and safety measures.
• Retrieve images on computer when returning patient to assigned exam room.
• Maintain adequate radiologic supplies.
• Ensure radiologic equipment remains in working order.
• Request maintenance and repair as necessary. Report all maintenance and repair requests to Practice Administrator.
• Maintain cleanliness of X-Room and equipment
• Serve as a back-up for clinical team members during downtime to control patient flow.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma required.
• Must hold a valid California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) or California Limited Technologist (LT) license 
• Proven experience working as an X-Ray Technician in a clinical setting required.
• Experience with radiologic systems, imaging procedures, and safety protocols
• Prior experience working in an orthopedic practice preferred.

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of compliance regulations set by state, federal and local law.

• Understanding of EPM/EHR system.
• Knowledge of radiologic standards, requirements and regulations
• Knowledge of radiologic safety, cleanliness and infection control policies and regulations
• Knowledge of radiologic equipment uses and maintenance.

Skills:

• Proficient in computer systems, electronic health records (EHR), and accurate data entry 
• Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and record accuracy skills 
• Highly organized with effective planning and prioritization abilities 
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective coordination with patients, providers, and staff 
• Ability to analyze, research, and verify medical documentation for accuracy and completeness 
• Excellent customer service and patient-focused communication skills 
• Effective teamwork and collaboration with clinical and administrative staff 
• Dependable with strong professional judgment and workplace ethics 
• Skilled in scheduling, coordinating tasks, and supporting office workflow efficiency 
• Experience working in healthcare environments with understanding of clinical processes 
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities 
• Comfortable working in fast-paced medical office settings with high accuracy standards

Equipment Operated

• Standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, printers, scanners, and copiers, etc
• Digital and/or diagnostic X-ray equipment and imaging systems 
• Electronic health record (EHR) and radiology software systems

Work Environment

The work environment includes both office and clinical settings within an orthopedic practice. Employees may have occasional exposure to patient specimens, medical equipment, cleaning agents, and other routine clinical environment conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit for extended periods of time up to 8 hrs per day.

• Repetitive motion of upper body required for extended computer use.
