Land Development Project Manager

Overview VHB, a leading firm in Planning, Engineering, and Environmental Sciences with offices from Maine to Florida, is seeking a Land Development Project Manager for our Raleigh, NC office. This role will support our expanding Land Development and Planning and Design team, working on a wide variety of projects—including mixed‑use, biotech, residential, multifamily, affordable housing, industrial, and hospitality developers. Notable projects include the 180‑unit Birch and Branch Apartments in Southeast Raleigh. Responsibilities Direct projects by managing and delegating tasks, forecasting workload and financial performance, and addressing staffing needs. Collaborate with clients and teammates across the organization. Develop and maintain client relationships through periodic meetings, proposals, budgets, and feedback sessions. Prepare agreements and manage construction plans, bid documents, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates. Analyze complex technical challenges and develop new or improved techniques, approaches, and alternative solutions. Promote career development, training, and career path planning for all direct team members. Develop engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects. Skills and Attributes Willingness to learn and implement integrated services projects in a multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of land development construction, codes, and development regulations. Strong leadership skills and growth potential. Interest in growing business development skills. Qualifications BS in Civil Engineering or related degree. 8–11 years of increasing engineering experience on complex projects (preferred). PE licensure in NC or ability to obtain within 6 months. Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, and stormwater management. Experience developing and compiling site plans, construction documents, specifications, and engineering reports. Understanding of the North Carolina market. Experience with GIS systems (plus). Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office.
