Registered Nurse (RN) - Psychiatry

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) specialized in Psychiatry for an inpatient nursing unit. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to patient care and possess the necessary skills to work effectively in a psychiatric setting.

Shift Details

Shift: 0645P – 0715A
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend or as needed

Unit Information

Number of Beds: 72
Patient Ratios: 1:10
Equipment: Vitals machine, EKG, bladder scanner, metal detector, AED
EHR: Cerner

Qualifications

Required Certifications: BLS, HWC, MANDT, TOVA-certified de-escalation/physical hold training
Years of Experience: 2+ years in Psychiatric or Behavioral Health settings
Education: Certification/licensure required to practice as an RN in Virginia

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients with mental health conditions. This includes but is not limited to:

Monitoring patient behavior and emotional well-being
Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
Providing education and support to patients and their families
Participating in de-escalation and crisis intervention efforts as needed

Required Skills

Previous experience in Psychiatric/Behavioral Health nursing
Expertise in handling common psychiatric diagnoses, including major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, and anxiety
Strong team-oriented approach with flexibility in caring for diverse patient populations (child, adult, geriatric)
Self-awareness, kindness, and a patient-centered approach to care

Scrub Color: Navy
