Location Mid County Dental Associates 2700 East Bay Drive, Largo, FL, 33771, United States Employee Type Full Time PURPOSE OF THE JOB We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Assistant to provide exceptional support to our dentists and dental hygienists in a dental practice or clinic. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of dental procedures and delivering high-quality patient care. The Dental Clinical Assistant will perform a variety of clinical and administrative duties, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of our practice. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including filling cavities, taking X-rays, and performing cleanings, ensuring patient comfort and procedural efficiency. Prepare dental instruments, equipment, and materials for use during procedures, adhering to strict hygiene and safety protocols. Set up dental trays with the necessary instruments and materials for each procedure, ensuring readiness and organization. Greet and prepare patients for treatment, explaining procedures to them, and answering any questions they may have, fostering a welcoming and reassuring environment. Take patient histories and update medical records accurately, maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date patient information. Prepare and maintain dental equipment and treatment rooms, ensuring a clean and functional workspace. May take dental X-rays, ensuring high-quality imaging. Provide post-operative instructions to patients after dental procedures, ensuring they understand and comply with care recommendations. Order and maintain dental supplies and equipment inventory, ensuring availability and proper stock levels. May schedule appointments and maintain patient records, optimizing patient flow and clinic operations. Provide administrative support, such as answering phones, filing paperwork, and managing patient inquiries, contributing to the overall efficiency of the practice. Requirements High school diploma or GED is required. Certification in dental assisting field is required. X-Ray certification is required. Proven experience working in a dental office, demonstrating familiarity with dental procedures and patient care. Sound knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and materials. Proficiency in dental practice management software, ensuring efficient data entry and record management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, facilitating clear and professional interactions with patients and staff. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks. Excellent customer service skills, contributing to a positive patient experience and satisfaction. Good manual dexterity, enabling precise and efficient handling of dental instruments and materials. Ability to work well under pressure, maintaining a calm and reassuring demeanor in a fast‑paced environment. Nice to Haves Familiarity with dental software and scheduling systems.
