Job Description Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular ICU – Part Time Nights #07-39439, Pomona, New Jersey, United States Position Summary The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team collaborating with the Physician. The RN utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of a culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The RN is responsible for coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care, ensuring consistency with the medical treatment plan, and providing ongoing assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of patient care. Responsibilities Assessment – Identification, gathering and organization of subjective and objective data, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural aspects. Planning – Identification of actual or potential problems and desired outcomes, documented in a plan of care that guides the patient and interdisciplinary team. Intervention – Implementation of specific interventions or orders consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan. Evaluation – Determining the effectiveness of interventions, initiating reassessment or revisions as necessary, and documenting required actions. Perform limited laboratory services such as specimen collection, quality control testing, instrument maintenance, monitoring, recording and reporting of results, including critical values, and maintaining competency for these tasks. Assist in performance improvement initiatives and provide leadership to other patient‑care team members. Participate in educational activities and pursue continued professional growth. Document assessments, plans, interventions and evaluations in accordance with standards and policies. Qualifications Education / License Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Nurses without BSN must enroll in a BSN program within 1 year and complete within 3 years. Current RN license in New Jersey or a valid multi‑state license. BLS certification required. Experience Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical or critical care experience. Experience in a cardiovascular ICU setting preferred. Certifications ACLS required within 6 months of hire. ATCN (or TNCC) required within 24 months of hire. CCRN preferred. Minimum 8 contact hours of continuing education in basic trauma assessment and stabilization per year. Minimum 8 contact hours of continuing education in basic stroke assessment and NIHSS per year, completed by 6 months of hire and thereafter. PALS or ENPC attained within 12 months of hire. Performance Expectations Demonstrate the ability to perform department‑specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Work Environment Potential exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and risk of injury. Work may involve considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, extensive standing and walking, lifting 25–50 pounds frequently or 50–100 pounds with assistance occasionally. Patient transport and use of heavy equipment may be required. Reporting Relationship This position reports to the patient care unit or department leadership.
