Accountant

Accountant Fremont-Wright is hiring an experienced accountant to join the centralized Accounting & Finance department at our Memphis headquarters. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this individual will assume ownership of daily transactional accounting responsibilities with a primary focus on cash management, treasury activity, accounts payable processing, and expense coding. The accountant is expected to execute recurring tasks with accuracy and efficiency while applying the analytical acumen to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and recommend solutions. This position is structured to provide broad exposure to the financial operations of a complex, multi-state professional services firm. Responsibilities Perform bank reconciliations for all company accounts and resolve reconciling items promptly. Monitor daily cash positions and report variances to the Director of Accounting. Process vendor invoices, ensuring proper three-way matching against purchase orders and receiving documentation where applicable. Reconcile the accounts payable subledger to the general ledger on a regular basis and resolve discrepancies. Review and code employee expense reports and corporate credit card transactions to ensure proper general ledger accountant assignments, project coding, and policy compliance. Support month-end accruals related to accounts payable and outstanding expenses. Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, including but not limited to cash, accounts payable, and accrued liabilities. Participate in special projects assigned by the Director of Accounting or CFO, which may include process improvement initiatives, systems implementations, audit support, and analytical assignments. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration (with an accounting concentration) from an accredited institution. 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including exposure to cash/treasury management, accounts payable, and payroll within a multi-entity or multi-state environment. Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking capability; ability to independently investigate discrepancies and identify solutions. Strong attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy in all work products. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with large data sets, vlookups, pivot tables, and basic formulas. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external vendors. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously. Demonstrated integrity and commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive financial information. A genuine desire to learn the business, grow professionally, and build a long-term career within the organization. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Accounting (MAcc), Business Administration (MBA with accounting focus), or a related graduate-level credential. Progress toward CPA licensure or expressed intent to pursue CPA certification. Experience with ERP or accounting software systems (e.g., Deltek, Oracle, SAP, or similar enterprise platforms). Internship or academic project experience in accounting, finance, or auditing within a professional services or project-based business environment. Exposure to multi-entity or multi-state accounting environments. The Compensation $65,000 – $85,000 Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, qualifications, and accreditations.
