Mainline Assembler (Summer Temp - 2nd Shift)

Horton, Inc. has an opening for a Temporary Summer worker on Mainline Assembly to work in our Britton, SD location. This is a temporary hourly position with a starting wage of $17.50 per hour and depends on experience. Second shift standard hours are Monday - Thursday from 330pm - 200am, with overtime as needed, and there is a shift premium of $1.25 per hour for this shift. Mainline Assembler Position Summary Inspects components, assembles, paints, tests, packages and transports fan clutches and subassemblies to finished goods area. Mainline Assembler Job Responsibilities Assembles fan clutch units using new parts. Collects a sufficient quantity of parts and prepares for assembly in order to complete the number of units specified by the production schedule. Assembles units using assembly and sales drawings as well as follows standard assembly procedures and laser mark/pin stamp units as required. Continuously performs quality checks on assembled units using inspection equipment as well as visual checks to piece parts and assembled units. Paints product: prepares units/pieces for painting, applies an even coat of protective paint using standard industrial spray paint equipment. Packages and prepares units/pieces for shipment to customers: attaches all identifying labels and serial numbers, boxes finished units including hardware and literature, palletizes boxes per standard operating procedure, records finished goods information on the job sheet and in Oracle, and uses material handling equipment to move finished goods to the shipping area. Assembles subassemblies to be packed with finished units. Disassembles units which do not meet standards, replaces faulty components or corrects assembly errors. Exhibits and performs basic personal computer functions in various software systems, including but not limited to: entering inspection production approvals, entering accurate productivity/efficiency data, using the business operating system to check inventory levels and other production related tasks, using the Horton “intranet” to access quality information, blueprints, safety information, and other production related information. Reworks units which fail to pass quality control checks. Provides training in work methods, procedures, and work instructions to employees and temporary workers. Other duties may be assigned to support the overall success of the company. Mainline Assembler Qualifications A high school diploma, or equivalent (GED), is desired but not required. Previous relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. Excellent communication and team work skills. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
