AI in Residence, Computational Protein Design

Xaira Therapeutics seeks an AI in Residence researcher to develop machine learning models for computational protein and antibody design. Working collaboratively with AI scientists and drug discovery teams, the resident will own end-to-end projects from problem framing through deployment, building scalable pipelines and advancing models using biophysical and sequence data. This selective position bridges frontier machine learning and biomedical applications, with emphasis on technical depth and delivering systems that directly impact therapeutic programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop ML models for protein and antibody design using structural and sequence datasets
• Design and implement scalable pipelines for data curation, training, and inference in discovery workflows
• Own projects end-to-end from problem framing through prototyping, validation, and deployment
• Evaluate model robustness, generalization, uncertainty quantification, and interpretability for scientific applications
• Propose new technical directions and raise research/engineering standards through collaboration

Requirements

• Advanced ML research experience with published work, open-source contributions, or production systems
• Technical depth in machine learning model development and deployment
• Strong research judgment and intellectual independence in problem selection
• Experience designing and implementing scalable data pipelines
• Familiarity with protein/antibody design, biophysics, or computational biology preferred
