IFP is looking for Low-Voltage Field Technicians who want to take the next step in their careers and develop specialized expertise in fire and life safety. You don’t need to come to us with years of fire suppression experience. If you have hands‑on low‑voltage, electrical, cabling, or related field experience and a strong technical aptitude, we’ll help train you on the systems and skills needed to grow into a well‑rounded Fire & Life Safety Field Technician. In this role, you’ll perform hands‑on installation work including pulling and terminating wire, installing conduit and devices, connecting control panels and system components, and supporting the installation, testing, and commissioning of fire alarm, detection, and special‑hazards fire suppression systems at customer sites nationwide. Location: We welcome qualified candidates nationwide, with current hiring priorities in Arizona, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and the Kansas City metropolitan area. We think you’ll thrive if: You enjoy hands‑on work and already have a foundation in low‑voltage wiring, electrical installation, cabling, or a related trade. You’re mechanically inclined, comfortable using tools, and take pride in clean, accurate work. You’re eager to learn a specialized trade and develop skills beyond traditional low‑voltage installation. You’re dependable, safety‑minded, and comfortable working in active construction and industrial environments. You’re interested in building a long‑term career with opportunities to develop technical expertise and earn industry certifications. Key Responsibilities Pull, route, label, and terminate low‑voltage wiring for fire alarm, detection, releasing, and related fire and life safety systems. Install conduit, cable supports, control panels, detection devices, notification appliances, and other field components. Assist with the installation and connection of special‑hazards fire suppression system components as training and proficiency develop. Read and work from electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, plans, schematics, and installation instructions. Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, testing equipment, and other job‑related equipment. Assist experienced technicians with system startup, testing, commissioning, inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Perform basic device and system testing within areas of demonstrated training and proficiency. Identify basic wiring, device, alarm, trouble, and supervisory conditions and assist with corrective work. Coordinate assigned work with other technicians, contractors, trades, and project teams. Complete required field reports, work orders, time records, and other project documentation accurately and on time. Follow all company, customer, and job‑site safety requirements and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas appropriately. Participate in technical, manufacturer, safety, licensing, and certification training as you develop within the role. Experience & Education Required At least 1 year of experience in low‑voltage, electrical, structured cabling, fire alarm, construction, mechanical, or related hands‑on field work. Experience pulling, routing, and/or terminating wire or cable. Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude and ability to safely use hand and power tools. Ability to read and understand basic plans, drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical instructions. Willingness and ability to learn fire alarm, detection, and special‑hazards fire suppression systems. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Willingness to obtain and maintain required licenses, certifications and technical qualifications. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to travel regionally and nationwide, including overnight stays, up to 90% of the time. About Veridity Engineered Safety for the World's Most Critical Environments.
