Associate

Our associates work cooperatively to handle a large volume of cases, providing support, comments, and constructive criticism to one another. Each associate is given ample opportunities to take the initiative in drafting legal papers and to grow and develop their skills through taking depositions, appearing for oral arguments, and conducting trials. Generally, however, our associates are expected to be able to handle legal matters on his/her own.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct legal research;

- Draft motion papers, letters, and other legal papers;

- Share legal opinions and provide support and constructive criticism with the team;

- Use the courts' electronic filing system to file papers;

- Meet and communicate with clients for case initiation/intake and obtaining information/documents necessary for discovery;

- Review documents and formulate legal strategies;

- Make appearances at Court (both virtual and in-person); and

- Take depositions and assist in preparing for Trials.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Required: Bar Admission in NJ or NY, or is expecting/eligible for admission in either

- Experience: 3L students, 0-3 years (or more) in civil litigation in the area of law below.

- Area of Law: Employment Law (wages, discrimination, retaliation, general counseling), Family Law, Commercial Litigation (partnership dispute, breach of contract, construction dispute, collections). Experience in other fields of law will be considered.

- Preferences/Additional Criteria:

-- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;

-- Presentable character and confidence;

-- Positive attitude and zeal to produce quality writing;

-- Meticulousness in reviewing and drafting documents;

-- Ability to cope with deadlines and complete tasks in advance and on time; and

-- Technologically savvy (Adobe, Excel, Word, and other software).
