Substitute Bus Driver

School Bus Driver

Must hold valid CDL License to drive a school bus with airbrake certification

Must be twenty-one years of age

Physically able to operate a school bus safely

Able to read and write

Drive the bus where directed by the Director of Operations

Obeys all traffic laws

Keeps to assigned bus schedule

Transports only school pupils, school personnel and approved persons

Uses the bus only for approved official business

Keeps bus clean

Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses

Performs the duties in a business-like manner and reports immediately to the Director of Operations any unsafe conditions related to the bus, the pupils, the roads or other users of the highway

Performs and records a daily pre-trip inspection immediately prior to transporting students

Notifies the bus shop of mechanical failure

Discharges student only at authorized stops

Reports all accidents to the Director of Operations

Exercises responsible leadership and courtesy when on out-of-district and/or special trips

Maintains discipline on school bus and reports undisciplined students to the principal

Performs duties regularly except in emergencies or sickness

Stops the school bus, looks and listens at all rail crossings

Attends bus meeting as scheduled by the Director of Operations

Performs responsibilities in accordance with school board policies and regulations

Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Operations
