Special Education Teacher Position Summary Perform special education services in accordance with the policies and procedures of the assigned school district. Duties may include, but are not limited to, case management; mentoring; developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines; supervision, evaluation, and scheduling of paraeducators; participation in problem-solving teams; developing and implementing behavior intervention plans; and scheduling and facilitating IEP meetings.
Individuals hired as Special Education Teachers may be aligned to similar roles such as Process Coordinator, Academic Evaluator, Case Manager, or Teacher of Record, as required by the needs of the client and [Company]. These roles share the same minimum requirements and fall under the Special Education division, with similar responsibilities and expectations. As with all [Company] positions, the determination of in-person, hybrid, or virtual work is dependent on client and company needs.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college. - Holds or is eligible for a teaching license, with the appropriate special education endorsement for the assigned grade level or age band. - Demonstrates knowledge of subject content, specialized curriculum, and individualized methodologies for effective teaching tailored to diverse learning needs. - Skilled in the use of multimedia and assistive technology to enhance learning for students with diverse needs. - Able to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, administrators, and parents. - Demonstrates skill in oral and written communication and excellent human relations skills.
Position-Specific Requirements The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate. - Prepare a wide variety of written materials (e.g., progress reports, Individualized Education Plans, and related documents such as notice of meeting, prior written notice, etc.). - Communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally in all written and oral language. - Develop, implement, and oversee implementation of Individualized Education Programs to ensure that each student receives a free, appropriate public education (FAPE). - Communicate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure timely and quality services. - Complete comprehensive documentation of all services as required by the contract district's policies and procedures. - Document and complete all billing requirements for such services as required by the contract district's policies and procedures. - Apply current research and theory to inform programming and decision-making. - Provide direction and supervision of district personnel (such as paraprofessionals or new teachers) in the provision of services under the rules and regulations of any state or federal guidelines, in addition to [Company]'s policies and procedures. - Perform other duties as assigned.
