Key Responsibilities for Occupational Therapy Assistant

• Provide comprehensive occupational therapy treatment plans, elaborate individualized treatment plans with Occupational Therapist, and deliver evidence-based interventions to maximize functional independence and quality of life.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM), Medicare guidelines, skilled therapy requirements, and appropriate documentation practices.
• Develop and support long-term care programming, including ADL enhancement, fall prevention, functional maintenance, positioning, contracture prevention, adaptive equipment, and restorative nursing collaboration.
• Collaborate with Occupational Therapist, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, nursing, physicians, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and achieve optimal resident outcomes.
• Provide skilled interventions addressing activities of daily living, upper-extremity function, strength, coordination, balance, cognition, and functional mobility.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and clinically meaningful documentation supporting medical necessity, skilled interventions, patient progress, and functional outcomes.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, discharge planning, care conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as appropriate, and promote measurable clinical and functional outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, caregivers, and facility leadership.

Qualifications for Occupational Therapy Assistant

• Current Florida Occupational Therapy Assistant license in good standing.
• Graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Experience in a skilled nursing facility, post-acute rehabilitation, or long-term care setting preferred.
• Strong understanding of PDPM, Medicare Part A and Part B, and skilled therapy documentation requirements.
• Experience with Net Health and Point Click Care preferred.
• Knowledge of long-term care programming, ADL retraining, fall prevention, positioning, contracture management, restorative nursing, and functional maintenance programs.
• Excellent communication, organizational, time-management, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills.
• Commitment to clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and positive patient outcomes.
