Staff Registered Nurse

Works under the supervision of the Med-Surg Nurse Manager. The Staff RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and supervises individual patient care on the nursing unit according to established policies, procedures and guidelines. Accepts responsibility for the direction of co-workers in the implementation of the patient's plan of care. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Provides nursing care using the Nursing Process by: Completing nursing assessment of patient and documenting appropriately in the patient chart. Develops a plan of care based upon the assessment of the patient. Implements plan of care and documents in the chart.

Evaluates patient's response to care and updates plan of care.

Oversees the delegation of specifics of the patient plan of care to unit staff. Engages in patient/family teaching as appropriate. Maintains professional standards by participating in educational opportunities and Performance Improvement activities. Communicates with the Health Care Team. Adheres to unit/department budgetary practices. MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft® Windows. Credential: BLS: Basic Life Support Within 1 month of hire or transfer from AHA
