Job Summary

The Superintendent oversees field operations across multiple crews performing heavy civil construction, primarily underground wet utilities including water, sewer, and storm drain systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced,boots-on-the-ground environment and serves as the critical link between project plans and field execution, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard of quality.

Flexible scheduling isrequired, including overtime, nights, weekends, and varying hours based on project needs and weather conditions.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and manage field crews (Foremen, Operators, Laborers) across multiple job sites

• Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Engineers to schedule and organize work

• Supervise daily site operations to ensure safety, budget, and timelines are met

• Coordinate with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors

• Identifyand resolve field issues proactively, adapting to project needs in real time

• Enforce quality control procedures and safety regulations

• Represent Total Civil in client and strategy meetings

• Track documentation, generate field reports, and support billing coordination

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experiencein heavy civil construction (utilities required)

• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to guide and motivate crews

• Knowledge of erosion and sediment control, construction standards, and OSHA compliance

• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, and contract documents

• Detail-oriented with strong time management and problem-solving skills

• Tech-savvy and experienced withProcore, Heavy Job, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, etc.)

• Valid drivers license and personal vehicle for travel to local job sites (DC, MD, VA)
