Head of Communications - Global AI Leader

Our client is a leading light in AI and has been recognised as one of the most exciting companies in that space. As part of its next phase of exciting growth, we are hiring a Head of Communications to own and drive media presence and narrative globally. The role requires a 'hands‑on' communications leader with an established network of journalist and media relationships who will engage press directly, and shape how the world sees the business. Responsibilities You will operate as the primary point of contact for all earned media, executive communications, and reputation management, plus building robust in‑house communications capability. Own the journalist and media relationship network across top‑tier technology, business, and AI press in the US and Europe. Pitch and place stories directly with reporters and editors, maximising earned media coverage for products, funding, partnerships, and thought leadership. Serve as the first point of contact for inbound media enquiries; develop and enforce a clear, fast response process. Build and maintain key media contacts, editorial calendars, and coverage opportunities by region and outlet. In‑House PR - transition core PR activities to an in‑house model, ensuring quality and speed without sacrificing coverage reach. Executive & CEO Positioning - drive media visibility for the leadership team through interviews, speaking engagements, and editorial placements. Content & Narrative - write and edit press releases, executive statements, and strategic announcements to the highest editorial standard. Internal Alignment - align communications strategy with Marketing, Product, Legal, and Commercial teams. Qualifications Significant experience in Communications or PR within AI, enterprise software, or deep tech. Must have direct relationships with journalists and editors at major technology and business media in the US and/or Europe (e.g. FT, Reuters, Bloomberg, TechCrunch, Wired, VentureBeat, WSJ, The Economist). Track record of securing high-impact earned media coverage through direct outreach - not solely via agency relationships. Exceptional writing and editorial skills, able to produce publication-ready content independently. Comfortable operating at pace in a global, multicultural scale‑up environment. Experience managing communications for a company undergoing rapid international growth or a major funding/IPO moment.
