Austin Public School District is seeking to hire a Full Time Custodian

CUSTODIAN - FULL TIME POSITION is split between Southgate Elementary and Ellis Middle School
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 3pm-11:30pm during the school year and 6am-2:30pm during the summer

Performance Responsibilities:
To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, and develop. The Custodian Engineer performs general cleaning duties, both inside and outside the school buildings, to ensure a pleasant environment. The Custodian Engineer performs other tasks as may be assigned.

Duties:
Responsible for performing routine custodial activities and routine grounds work such as:

• Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and outdoor areas neat and clean at all times.
• Scrubs, and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
• Cleans all whiteboards as required.
• Cleaning the inside of classrooms, sweeping, vacuuming & mopping floors, washing desks and counters and washing white & black boards.
• Cleaning, vacuuming, mopping and sanitizing restrooms, kitchen, offices, gymnasium, etc. Strip & wax floors.
• Emptying garbage cans throughout building.
• Performing general maintenance such as: changing light bulbs, moving furniture, shoveling snow, etc.
• Event set-up and take down.
• Moves furniture and equipment within the building as required for various activities and as directed by the Principal or Buildings & Grounds Director. Assumes responsibility for general security and fire safety of the building
• Washing windows, walls, lockers, etc.
• Reports major repairs needed promptly to the Principal.
• Other duties of similar nature
