Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Cerner is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: - First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 18 months of Med/Surg and/or ICU experience and EPIC or Cerner experience required; if strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required. - At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience: - Chemo experience highly preferred but not required.

Special Requests: - Only 1 active application is allowed for the same unit and shift at the same facility. You may apply to a day shift and a night shift on the same unit and facility, but not to another opening on the same unit and facility with the same shift. - Must be away from Baptist for 6 months from last shift worked to start date before returning as a traveler. - Holiday time off is not guaranteed prior to arrival. - Up to 7 days off may be approved excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/EANH approval. - Blackout dates during this assignment window: 8/30-9/1, 10/30-11/2, 11/26-30.

Unit Details: - Float pool covers trauma/surgical, neuroscience, med/surg-oncology, orthopedics, and MS/Ortho/Urology patient populations. - 6 North Trauma Surgical: general surgery and vascular surgery patients; wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations. - 5 South Neuroscience: CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative disease, post-trauma, and angiogram patients; IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tubes, surgical site care, C-collar, abdominal binders, and restraints. - 5 North Med/Surg-Oncology: MS/oncology, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, and high-acuity fast-paced Med/Surg patients; 1:4-5 ratio on this unit; trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts, and chemo administration if certified. Telemetry is monitored by tele techs, and RNs must interpret and confirm strip readings q4 hours. - 3 South Orthopedics: orthopedic and spine patients including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies; PCA pumps, negative pressure dressings, dressing changes, foleys, and hemovac/JP drains. - 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: urology, ENT, ortho, and Med/Surg patients; trach care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, and nurse-driven foley protocol. - Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell, and Spacelabs monitors.

Shift & Scheduling: - Every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. - No call. - One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. - Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. - 4-week schedule cycle; no self-scheduling; utilizes Smart Square.

Floating Requirements: - May float to like units/patient locations, including MS-MS, MS-ICU task, and MS-ER/MS holds.

7 days maximum time off.
