Instructional Coach

Qualifications Bachelor's degree required

• Preferred: Master's degree or "in progress" master's degree in education
• NC Teaching License in appropriate subject area or have qualifications to obtain a NC teaching License - NCDPI Licensure
• Proven excellence as a classroom teacher
• Exemplary skills in developing, implementing, and assessing instructional strategies to improve academic overall achievement in all core content areas
• Problem-solving skills.

Ten-month, full-time position

North Carolina Teacher Salary Schedule + 9.5% supplement Full State Benefits Package

Reports to School Principal or his/her designee

Essential To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Work with the principal and school improvement team to develop a school-wide plan to improve the achievement of all students in the school that includes professional development, modeling and observing classroom instruction, and providing feedback to teachers.
• Commit to attend all training sessions and/or required professional development.
• Use instructional research and strategies to coach teacher colleagues in successful implementation.
• Attend monthly district meetings.
• Establish PLCs, facilitate and/or support facilitation of teams with instructional planning.
• Unpack units, assessments, and standards, creating long-range, unit, weekly, and daily plans, as well as lesson internalization.
• Support data-driven instruction with an ongoing focus on data analysis and targeted instructional next steps. Kannapolis City Schools - Creating the Future
• Introduce and support teachers and instructional assistants with navigating and implementing tiered resources.
• Conduct coaching cycles with select staff members.
• Other duties as assigned.

This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.

• Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting.
• Work has standard vision requirements.
• Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
• Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
• Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities.
• Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
• Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
