Forklift Driver

This position operates various types of lift trucks to support the tool room, steel fab, and production departments.

Responsibilities:

• Operate forklift to deliver plates, baskets, rebar racks, Styrofoam, and other items to production areas in a timely manner.
• Operate overhead crane as needed.
• Perform daily pre-operation inspection on equipment.
• Keep areas stocked as needed.
• Use radio to check in with all departments and address needs as requested.
• Empty dumpsters.
• Unload trucks.
• Stage product in designated areas.
• Change cable rolls.
• Ensure proper storage and safe handling of welding gasses.
• Inform maintenance of issues needing attention.
• Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
• Housekeeping as necessary to maintain work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner.

Scope of Authority:

Works independently with some supervision. Reporting structure varies.

Education and Technology:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous sit-down lift truck experience preferred.

Work Environment / Schedule:

Schedule varies with workload and location. Unscheduled overtime may be required depending on production needs. Monday Friday. Sheltered, outdoor environment. Work area is not climate controlled and may be exposed to changing weather and temperature conditions. Safety glasses.

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): High-visibility vest, hard hat, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, gloves (various types).

Physical Requirements:

This position requires standing for long periods of time, lifting (up to 75 lbs.) and bending, repetitive motion with medium force, and an ability to frequently climb up to 15 feet above ground using stairs. Constant action of getting off and on the forklift throughout the workday.
