Job Description

The Production Assembler performs repeated assemblies on hand-made products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work at a designated station, using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to assemble metal and cast iron components before they are shipped to customers. This role involves consistent physical activity, attention to detail, and the ability to follow standard operating procedures while contributing to a lean manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

• Perform repeated assembly tasks on hand-made products according to work instructions and standard operating procedures.

• Work at a designated production station to assemble metal and cast iron parts accurately and efficiently.

• Use hand tools, power tools, and other mechanical instruments safely to complete assembly work.

• Read and follow work instructions, SOPs, and basic mechanical or assembly guidelines to ensure correct builds.

• Maintain consistent quality by inspecting assembled components and identifying any defects or issues.

• Handle and move materials and components, including lifting and positioning items weighing 35–50 lbs throughout the shift.

• Operate within a lean manufacturing process, contributing to continuous improvement and efficient workflow.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and productivity.

• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily production goals and timelines.

• Participate in training and cross-training on new positions or tasks as needed.

Essential Skills

• Experience using hand tools in a manufacturing, assembly, or general labor environment.

• Experience using power tools safely and effectively in a production or industrial setting.

• Ability to stand and work on your feet for 8–10 hours per shift.

• Ability to consistently lift and move 35–50 lbs throughout the shift.

• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly and product quality.

• Willingness to learn and train on new positions and tasks within the production area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in general production, machine operation, or industrial environments.

• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with mechanical assembly work.

• Exposure to lean manufacturing processes.

• Experience working with metal parts, cast iron, or similar materials.

• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing setting with approximately 50–60 people working on the first shift. You will work primarily with metal parts, including cast iron components, at a production station on your feet for most of the day. The schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The environment is industrial, with the use of hand tools, power tools, and other production equipment. Appropriate attire includes steel-toed shoes and long pants to meet safety requirements. The workplace operates under lean manufacturing principles, with a focus on efficiency, safety, and teamwork.

This is a Contract position based out of Gorham, ME.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
