About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Stepdown Duration: 20 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years in Stepdown in an acute care setting required License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Must be 75 miles from the facility to the address on the driver's license. Description: Strict 75-mile radius rule. Must provide a copy of the driver's license. Experience must include 2 years in Stepdown in an acute care setting without exception. A clinical interview is offered, or an automatic offer based on a resume review is available. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 5. The unit consists of 44 beds, including 8 semi-private rooms. Charge nurse role available. Weekend requirement is every other weekend. Must be flexible and work as needed on holidays and days around holidays. Telemetry experience is required. Must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips. Experience with various cardiac drips is required. BiPap and CPAP experience is required; no full vents, high flow oxygen only. Clientist or intensivist is on-site 24/7. PICC team is available around the clock. Available pharmacy services are 24/7. Shifts begin at 6:45 AM and 6:45 PM. Floating to ICU may occur, but only stepdown patients will be assigned unless ICU experience is verified. Specific orientation will last for three shifts. Common diagnoses include post-operative CABG, cardiovascular surgeries, and various cardiac-related conditions. Preference for candidates able to pull pacer wires; if not, orientation will be provided. Fast turnover of rooms, with an average census of 32-38 patients. Discharges and admissions may range from 12-16 patients on busy days. Attendance is emphasized, and candidates should be comfortable with floating. Additional tasks may be assigned in the ICU if unable to handle ICU-level patients. Dress code requires natural-colored hair, no fake nails or shellac on nails, no facial piercings, and no visible tattoos.
