Instructional Assistant - Pelham, AL

Job Description

Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary students as a paraprofessional in a vibrant, collaborative school setting. This role involves working closely with an experienced virtual Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support a diverse caseload and make a positive difference in students' daily learning experiences.

Your schedule will offer work-life balance, averaging 28 hours per week across 4–5 days, from August 12, 2026, through May 20, 2027. You'll play an integral part in fostering student growth and providing hands-on assistance during classroom activities, therapy sessions, and individualized support under the guidance of teaching and therapy staff.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

Prior experience as a paraprofessional, preferably within an elementary educational environment
Strong communication skills and an approachable, student-centered demeanor
Flexibility to adjust to varying caseloads and work collaboratively with both in-person and virtual team members
Ability to follow directions from special education staff and support students with diverse needs
Familiarity with promoting inclusive, positive classroom climates
Adaptability for supporting virtual SLP sessions and communicating progress to staff and families as needed

Role Responsibilities:

Support elementary students in small-group and one-on-one settings
Help facilitate speech therapy sessions guided by a virtual SLP
Encourage student participation and support educational goals
Provide classroom assistance and reinforce positive behaviors
Collect and communicate student data to relevant staff members
