Shipyard Outside Machinist

Aerotek is looking for Outside Machinists for the Newport News shipyard with 1-3 years of experience. Pay is based off years of experience.

What You'll Do

• Install, repair, and test mechanical systems on naval vessels
• Support major shipyard projects within the Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH) program
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings for chill water, ventilation, and steam systems
• Perform system inspections and testing, including flange/fitting checks and hydrostatic testing
• Identify, assess, and repair corrosion on shipboard piping and mechanical components
• Replace or repair flow regulators, solenoids, temperature-regulating valves, and isolation valves
• Troubleshoot and repair ventilation systems, including cooling coils, heaters, and duct components
• Work closely with mechanics and engineers to complete shipboard repairs
• Mentor and train coworkers and customers on proper repair and testing procedures

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
