Founding Mentor (Part-Time, Remote)

Azir Inc. is a startup founded at UC Berkeley, building a cross-border mentorship marketplace that connects students in the US, Korea, and Japan with verified mentors from leading universities. Through live video sessions, students get tailored guidance on college admissions, transfer applications, coursework, internships, and career paths. Each session produces an AI-generated report, reviewed by the mentor, so students leave with a clear record of what they learned and what to do next. Azir is built on trust: verified mentor credentials, payments released after session completion, and mentor-first economics where mentors keep most of what they earn. We're currently in beta and recruiting our first cohort of Founding Mentors.

Role Description

As a Founding Mentor, you'll meet students one-on-one over live video and share guidance from your own academic and professional journey. Depending on your background, sessions may cover college and transfer applications, challenging coursework and study strategies, or internship and career preparation, including resume and cover letter reviews, interview practice, recruiting timelines, and choosing between majors or career paths. You'll review student materials such as essays, resumes, or study plans, give constructive feedback, and review each session's AI-generated report before it's shared. You'll also help shape the early mentor experience by sharing feedback with the Azir team. You set your own hourly rate and availability, and keep 80-85% of each session's earnings.

Qualifications

• Current student or recent graduate of a leading university (school email verification required)
• Genuine interest in helping students; experience with tutoring, mentoring, or admissions is a plus but not required
• Reliable, punctual, and respectful of student confidentiality
• Comfortable with video calls and remote work
• Internship or full-time industry experience is a plus, especially for career-focused mentoring
