Job Details Project Engineer FLSA Status: Exempt Admin This position is responsible for assisting project personnel in the planning, directing, and coordinating activities of a designated project to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. The role involves performing duties personally or through project supervision and may include additional job related responsibilities and duties as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. Communicate verbally and/or in writing with customers, suppliers, employees, and other stakeholders to meet needs and resolve conflicts. Assist with pre‑construction activities (construction planning and design; interpretation of design and drawings; application of construction methods; bid packages). Interpret designs and drawings; prepare takeoffs; research and recommend resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, and errors. Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc. Verify work‑in‑place quantities for invoicing/payments; verify accurate payment of subcontractors and material suppliers. Maintain submittal logs and review submittals and shop drawings in a timely manner. Recognize change conditions with respect to the contract and notify appropriate parties. Ensure all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications; coordinate inspections and testing. Assemble construction financial data; monitor costs; track force‑account costs. Maintain job costing system and update forecasts; create margin reporting. Ensure craft time cards are completed accurately, assigning cost codes to purchases, time cards, contracts, equipment time, and other cost items. Assist project personnel with daily job reports and schedule monitoring. Create correspondence to owners, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, etc. Maintain as‑built drawings; post RFIs, bulletins, and ASIs as appropriate. Maintain RFI logs and provide timely responses to job questions. Assist with constructability reviews and value engineering functions. Develop, implement, and administer project engineering procedures and other work documents; track and log documentation. Ensure correct setup and maintenance of filing system. Assist in defining contract bid packages, coordinating scopes of work, and preparing the packages. Take weekly jobsite photographs. Maintain all safety records. Complete appropriate paperwork for new field hires. Assist in preparing project status reports and participating in project status meetings; assist in developing meeting minutes. Assist in project close‑out activities. Communicate and reinforce the Company vision, mission, and values. Travel as required. Supervisory Responsibilities Manages one or more hourly field positions if needed. Responsibilities may include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university; or 1–2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports and business correspondence; ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry; apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Proficient with personal computer and familiar with Windows applications such as Word, Excel, scheduling, and job costing software. Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Valid driver’s license. Knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures. Physical Activities Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop or kneel. Require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Occasionally may work in high and/or precarious places.
