The Unit Secretary is Responsible for providing secretarial support for all employees within an assigned nursing unit. Provides superior customer service to patients and visitors on a given unit.

Primary Duties:

• Supports departmental goals and compliance by adhering to all policies, procedures, quality, and safety standards while meeting regulatory requirements.
• Serves as the communication hub by greeting and directing patients and visitors, answering calls, distributing mail, and relaying messages or emergency communications to appropriate staff.
• Provides clerical and administrative support to physicians, nurses, and department leadership, including scheduling, documentation, and record management in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Coordinates patient flow and information by managing admissions, transfers, discharges, and consult requests, ensuring accurate and timely updates to all relevant departments.
• Maintains unit efficiency and readiness through inventory control, supply ordering, and performing specialized departmental tasks as required.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• Experience in medical clerical/medical receptionist position (Preferred)
• Completion of nurse technician/medical assistant/medical clerical training (Preferred)
• Equivalent hospital experience (Preferred)

This position has a hiring range of $18 - $29.74
