MRI Technologist - Part Time

Position MRI Technologist – Part Time Overview Expert MRI is a cutting‑edge medical diagnostics company featuring the region’s foremost experts in neck/spine injury and general orthopedic imaging. The physicians and staff are among California’s most knowledgeable and experienced at diagnosing orthopedic and traumatic brain imaging. In addition to extensive MRI capabilities, we also use CT and X‑Ray to assist in properly diagnosing patient’s condition. Responsibilities Interview patients to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures and ensure removal of hazardous metal objects when the magnet is activated. Prevent patients or others with incompatible objects from entering the magnet room. Position the patient on the examining table and place the specified coil (e.g., head coil or knee coil) close to the area of interest, following protocols requested by the radiologist. Demonstrate use of microphone to allow patient and technologist to communicate during examination. Perform phlebotomy as needed to safely inject contrast media as indicated and approved. Enter data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into the aperture of the magnetic resonance imaging equipment (head or feet first) into the computer. Key commands to specify scan sequences, and adjust transmitters and receivers, into the computer. Observe patient through the control room window and on closed‑circuit TV to monitor safety and comfort, and communicate regularly to assure compliance. View images of the area being scanned on a video monitor to ensure acquisition quality. Modify pulse‑sequence parameters as needed to achieve optimal results. Move DICOM datasets to destinations and storage per policy and procedure. Alert and control access to anyone about to enter the magnet room regarding the danger of metal around the magnet. Act as a gatekeeper to maintain a safe environment. Participate in the training of MRI students during their clinical rotation as needed. Education & Experience Associate’s degree from a two‑year college or technical school, or six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in medical software, PC and office software, modality interface software and hardware. Graduate from a certified school of MRI technology. Registered as an MRI technologist by either ARRT or ARMRIT by passing the registry exam and qualifying for the position.
