Job Responsibilities The Admissions Counselor provides outstanding service to students, colleagues, and the general public, recruits qualified future graduates to educational opportunities offered by the College, solicits inquiries and converts them to applicants and matriculants while providing assistance through each step of the enrollment process. Job Functions of the Admissions Counselor Provides outstanding service to students and other internal and external customers. Recruits qualified future graduates to educational opportunities offered by the College. Develops and implementing strategic and tactical plans to achieve established recruitment goals. Builds relationships with a variety of internal and external constituencies including prospective students, parents, secondary school personnel, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. Conducts ongoing communications with prospective students through a variety of methods including in-person appointments, phone calls, emails, information sessions, high school visits, college fairs, and other events. Solicits inquiries and converting them to applicants and matriculants while providing assistance through each step of the enrollment process. Maintains, reviews, and evaluates application-related materials. Assists with recruitment initiatives designed to affect the growth of special populations, including dual enrollment. Maintains accurate records on recruitment efforts and assisting the Director with the compilation of data related to the effectiveness of efforts and initiatives. Works independently within a team on special and ongoing projects. Assists the Director of Admissions with program development and strategic planning, and monitoring priorities and progress towards the Department’s goals. Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum and Additional Requirements State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree. Must have a valid driver's license. NETC Preferred Requirements: A master's degree in a related field plus two (2) years of relevant experience in higher education. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the assigned program area, such as counseling, student activities, financial aid, recruiting or housing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, administrators, staff, students, parents, coworkers and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be able to demonstrate the proven abilities of intellectual reasoning, power of persuasion, and consistent dedication to the position. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Ability to learn to operate College-specific software and applications. Ability to work with continuous attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofreading material. Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines while effectively managing time. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with a demonstrated ability to multi-task with little supervision. Additional Comments Work is performed primarily in an office environment and requires prolonged periods of sitting and standing, as well as frequent use of a computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment. The position requires occasional lifting and/or moving of materials weighing up to 25 pounds (e.g., recruitment materials, displays, and event supplies). Travel throughout the College’s three-county service area is required, with occasional evening and weekend work to support recruitment events, college fairs, and community outreach activities. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and in writing, and to move between campus locations and event sites as needed. Employees are offered one flexible work schedule option. All schedules consist of three full days and one shorter day, which totals 37.5 hours per week.
