Job Title Mobile Diesel Technician Level II Company Overview Fleet Services, a Cox Automotive company headquartered in Indianapolis, is a leading provider of on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide. The company serves customers with over 50 nationwide service centers that offer accident repair, painting, refurbishment, and heavy mechanical repair, supported by a 24/7 in‑house call‑center. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT Inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustment and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems and transmissions. Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment (electrical, brake, cooling, AC, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials). Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and determine the most accurate and relevant solutions. Independently manage parts inventory and reconcile company‑issued service truck tools. Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections. Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve issues, and satisfy expectations. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work activities and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks. Document work per company standards, upload pictures, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using an iOS device and the proprietary TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner. Work independently and manage own daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity, achieving standard repair times where possible. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary. Communicate with management and support via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase order numbers, and RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Requirements High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education or 5 years of experience). Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for required duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical. Provide a current and valid DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining (or a DOT physical if less than 4 months). Be at least 21 years old and possess a valid driver’s license; maintain a Driver Qualification File. Safe driving record required. Required Certifications ASE T8 (PMI) certification Preferred Certifications ASE T3 (Drivetrain) ASE T4 (Brakes) ASE T5 (Suspension) ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems)
