Depending on the clients and projects you support, you will utilize a Design-Bid-Build or a Design-Build approach when developing design documentation.Role accountabilities:Mentor and lead teams of engineering staff during the production of plans and specifications.Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting activitiesAnalyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrologic and hydraulic characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data necessary to develop technical design informationUse computer-assisted engineering and design software, including computer simulation models, and equipment to prepare engineering and design analysis and documentsPrepare reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and technical designs for civil/site and/or railroad projectsAddress Request for Information (RFI) from contractors related to design documentsKey Attributes:Experience using industry-standard computer software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and Hydrologic/Hydraulic modeling programs/softwareFamiliarity with government, client, and industry local codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects in their respective fieldUnderstanding of all aspects of design including alignments, layout, grading, storm water and detention including modeling, utility coordination/design including water and wastewater pipeline modeling, and erosion control and storm water pollution prevention plans related to Civil/Site and/or Railroad design.Ability to complete and assemble construction and permitting drawing packagesQualifications & Experience:Natural or Acquired U.S. CitizenshipBachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related fieldPE License10 years of civil/site design experienceExcellent communication skills, both oral and written; ability to communicate effectively as part of a team and prepare/develop technical documents.Proficiency with these Project Management and Document Management Platforms:BIM360 or AutoDesk Construction Cloud, ProjectWiseProficiency in these Design & Engineering Software Applications:AutoCAD Civil 3D, Adobe AcrobatProficiency with these Microsoft Office Suite Software Applications:MS Teams, MS SharePoint, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS WordPreferred Qualifications:Previous Experience in industrial and commercial infrastructure design and construction.Previous Experience in Permitting and AHJ Plans Examination.Proficiency with these Project Management and Document Management Platforms:PlanGrid, ProcoreProficiency or Experience in Design & Engineering Software Applications:UNIFI, SpecLINK, e-SPECProficiency or Experience with these Microsoft Office Suite Software Applications:MS Project, MS Visio, MS PowerPointProficiency in these Design & Engineering Software Applications:MicroStation, OpenRoads, Bluebeam, REVITKnowledge of AREMA Manual and various agency standardsPrevious experiences with Class I Rail projects and/or large industrial projectsAbility/Experience in design detailingLEED AP or BREEAM Certified.Why Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
