Job Description Job Description 5-Axis CNC Operator Location: Hebron, KY Full-Time Onsite Job Summary We are seeking a skilled 5-Axis CNC Operator / Setup Technician with aerospace machining experience to operate, set up, and maintain high-performance machining equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Makino 5-axis machining centers and CNC lathes with live tooling , be capable of complex part setups, and ensure tight-tolerance, high-quality production. This role blends precision operation with setup expertise, requiring mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, and a strong team-oriented mindset. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate 5-axis CNC machines, primarily Makino machining centers, and CNC lathes with live tooling for mill-turn operations Read and interpret aerospace blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T to plan setups and operations Install fixtures, tools, and work holding, adjusting offsets and tooling for each setup Run complex aerospace components to strict tolerances and specifications Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, including tool wear, part fit, and machine performance Support prove-outs of new programs in collaboration with CNC programmers and engineers Maintain accurate setup documentation, tooling lists, and inspection records Maintain clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with 5S and aerospace standards Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory procedures specific to aerospace manufacturing Mentor less-experienced operators and share best practices in setups and operation Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED 3+ years of CNC machining experience, including 5-axis operation and setup Experience with CNC lathes with live tooling (mill-turn) Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials Ability to read and interpret aerospace blueprints and GD&T Experience holding tight tolerances in precision environments Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and basic inspection procedures Preferred Qualifications Experience in aerospace manufacturing Hands-on experience with Makino 5-axis machining centers Familiarity with multi-axis machining and complex part setups Experience supporting program prove-outs and process improvements Knowledge of lean manufacturing or 5S principles Basic understanding of G-code and program structure Key Skills Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability Ability to plan, set up, and execute complex machining operations High attention to detail and commitment to quality Proficiency with both multi-axis milling and mill-turn operations Good communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills Dependability, accountability, and a solutions-oriented mindset Ability to act as a positive influencer on the shop floor, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement Work Environment & Company Culture Manufacturing/shop floor specializing in aerospace precision machining, utilizing high-end Makino machining centers and CNC lathes with live tooling Fast-paced, high-precision environment with strict quality and regulatory standards Culture built on: Problem Solving – Focus on solutions, not blame People First – Respect, teamwork, and supporting one another Own It – Fix It – Take responsibility and act with urgency Continuous Learning – Willingness to learn from others and improve Mentorship – Supporting and helping teammates grow Expected to be a team player and positive influence, contributing to a safe, productive, and respectful workplace Standing for extended periods, lifting materials, and working around machinery Overtime may be required based on production demands
