Job Summary:

We are looking for a candidate with a positive attitude, a friendly disposition and the ability to effectively communicate with students, faculty, staff, and guests. The ideal candidate is someone with strong organizational skills, flexibility and attention to detail. We are looking for applicants who are capable of handling a very physically demanding job that entails assisting in the operation of Print and Mail Services by receiving, sorting, and delivering incoming and outgoing mail, assisting in Print Services, and working the retail counter. Salary: Pay range $18.00 - 19.00 per hour

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

• Receive, sort and deliver incoming, outgoing and campus mail and packages
• Deliver mail and packages to the post office
• Process outgoing mail and packages using USPS, UPS and FedEx
• Process bulk mailings
• Process undeliverable mail and research mail with no addressee
• Forwarding mail to former students
• Respond to customer questions and package inquiries via email and phone
• Work the retail counter helping customers with shipping options, packaging, selling stamps and supplies and researching packages
• Help maintain a database of customers and packages
• Understand postal rules and regulations
• Assist Print Services with shipping print jobs, answering questions, and post production work
• Assist other Auxiliary Services departments when needed
• Attend training when required
• May be responsible for Emergency Response in their assigned building.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Possess a California driver's license and a good driving record
• High school diploma or GED
• Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of Point Loma Nazarene University
• Ability to read addresses at a rapid rate and sort accurately
• Ability to adapt to a technology based environment
• Ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively to our customers and team
• Ability to work well with others
• Ability to adapt to ever changing situations determined by the mail volume
• Ability to use a cash register and accurately make change
• Ability to work with constant interruption
• Ability to handle difficult situations
• Must be able to type using a keyboard
• Must possess good manual dexterity
• Ability to lift 70 pounds

Physical Requirements:

• This job is physically demanding. It requires significant periods of standing and walking.
• The need to stand, stoop, push, pull and lift up to 55 pounds throughout the day, and lift up to 70 pounds on occasion.
• Use of a computer, phone, and other machinery on a daily basis. Good vision to read shipping labels, documents, and emails on paper and a computer monitor.
• Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone.
