Northern Light Mayo Hospital Department: Physical Therapy Position is located: Mayo Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft, ME Work Type: Full Time Hours Per Week: 40 Hour/Week Work Schedule: No Hours Assigned Summary: The Physical Therapy Assistant will adhere to the State of Maine Physical Therapist Practice Act as well as the Northern Light Health Standards of Care/Practice, policies, and procedures. They will act in accordance with the physical therapy core values and code of ethics as set forth by the American Physical Therapy Association. They will use their professional and clinical judgment in all aspects of care, from critical care patients to general outpatient care. They will implement client centered treatment plans according to the plan of care set forth by the evaluating physical therapist and will collaborate with patient and family as well as the multidisciplinary team while using evidence-based practice to achieve optimal results and improvement. S/he must demonstrate the ability to multitask and provide the highest quality of care to our patients, while recognizing the value and dignity of the individual. Responsibilities :

- Organizes, and participates in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease, injury, or developmental delay.
- Performs complete, accurate and timely documentation including billing within the electronic medical record.
- Maintains a safe environment complying with Northern Light Health policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
- Monitors effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
- Participates in patient, caregiver, staff education.
- Maintains and exhibits a current knowledge of profession and participates in continuing education.
- Provides clinical supervision to support staff, students, and graduate PTA.
- Confers with physical therapy staff or others to discuss patient information for planning, modifying, or coordinating treatment.
- Attends appropriate team meetings and communicates/collaborates with other team members, individuals, family members or caregivers.
