Shift: Day/PM Compensation: $18.32+ Hours Per Week: 40 Weekends: No Responsibilities The Experience Specialist is responsible for accurately capturing and maintaining patient registration data for patients admitted for outpatient services at UnityPoint Health - Meriter clinics. This includes querying databases, using various methods to locate existing medical record numbers, and ensuring that all patients are assigned a single, continuous medical record number. The Specialist also establishes UnityPoint Health – Meriter Clinic billing accounts in Epic to accurately charge for services rendered. Additional duties encompass complete insurance verification, including eligibility checks and benefit acquisition to maximize reimbursement. All information must be accurately entered into the system for use by the registration, billing, medical records, and clinical staff. The role requires interacting with internal and external customers, creating a positive first impression of services, scheduling all patient appointments in EPIC Cadence, answering multi-line phone calls, triaging calls to appropriate clinic staff, and creating patient callback messages routed to clinic staff. Required Qualifications High School or Vocational School graduate, may consider work experience in lieu of high school diploma Ability to demonstrate strong customer service skills. Ability to effectively enter information into a variety of computer programs. Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures. Ability to interact effectively with physicians, health care team members, individuals and members of their support systems. Ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse professional, education and lifestyle backgrounds. Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English Multicultural sensitivity Microsoft Office – basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions Preferred Qualifications Previous medical office experience preferred. Previous experience with an electronic health record or medical office software preferred. Previous experience coding diagnoses and procedures with ICD09-CM and CPT preferred.
