Mental Health Clerk Childress County BHC - Childress, TX 79201 Overview Salary Range $12.90 Hourly Position Type Full Time Job Shift 8-5 M-F Education Level High School/GED Category Admin - Clerical Description This position will serve as clerical support for the Mental Health Center(s). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Greeting consumers, answering phone calls, directing calls to appropriate staff members or taking messages, obtaining purchase orders, and purchasing supplies. Ordering medications, checking-in medication upon arrival, and disseminating medications to individuals served. Performing complex data entry and running reports from various computer programs. Scheduling appointments for all center staff including the doctor and nurse, mailing reminder letters to all consumers one week prior to the appointment, and placing reminder calls to all consumers one day prior to the appointment. Checking individuals in, collecting payments, completing financial information, getting copies of all insurance cards, and doing vitals; making bank deposits as necessary. Uploading and/or filing paperwork in the clinical record; pulling charts for doctor and nurse, copying information from clinical record, and forwarding subpoenas following the system dictated by the Director of Clinical Records. Position requires initiative, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to interact in a professional manner with a variety of staff members, consumers, family members, and community agencies. Other clerical duties may be assigned. Work is performed with minimal supervision within established guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must attend all appropriate meetings. Qualifications Education, Training, and Experience Graduation from standard high school or equivalent plus one-year experience in performance of related duties as identified above and one-year experience using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Must have valid driver's license and be insurable to drive Center vehicles. Must pass and maintain all Center mandated trainings. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to read and proof correspondence, reports, computer printouts, etc. Excellent spelling and grammar. Ability to write memos, letters, various complex reports, miscellaneous documents. Ability to perform addition and subtraction. Ability to count money. Ability to complete financial assessments following procedure set out by TDMHMR. Ability to relate to verbal instructions, communicate in a courteous and effective fashion with co-workers, consumers and families, agencies and the public. Skilled in the use of personal and network computers, word processing, database, spreadsheet and office management software (Microsoft Office), CMHC, familiarity with CARE.
