Institutional Research Analyst

Saint Joseph's College of Maine seeks a dynamic individual for the position of INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH ANALYST !

POSITION DESCRIPTION : The Institutional Research Analyst supports the division of Academic Affairs by providing general statistics and manages institutional research requirements of the College; implementing an IR plan based on best practices and emerging trends in institutional research; and conducting statistical forecasts to support institutional planning and assessment in support of the college's mission and strategic initiatives.

This position may require occasional evening and weekend work being present on campus.

A remote work environment is possible.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides general statistics and manages institutional research requirements of the College by:
• Serving as the principal provider of official institutional data and the completion of coordinated responses to meet mandatory federal and state compliance reporting
• Preparing and providing statistical reports to the President, Vice-Presidents and outside agencies on a regular basis
• Working with areas of the College responsible for data input to improve processes for collecting and inputting accurate data into data systems
• Providing analysis, statistical interpretation, and assessment of data
• Developing and maintaining tracking and reporting systems
• Conducting statistical forecasts
• Working with the Institutional Assessment Team to measure and track outcomes across the College
• Reporting accurate and consistent information about the institution to internal and external stakeholders and submit surveys on behalf of the College
• Serve as IPEDS keyholder

Implements an IR plan based on best practices and emerging trends in institutional research by:
• Formulating and communicating a system-wide agenda that supports the College in moving towards a data-savvy environment, including improved utilization of data to support future planning priorities and resource management strategies
• Troubleshooting data management issues across various institutional departments and monitoring the overall status of data collection, reporting, and use to promote continuous improvement
• Creating synergies among data systems including data related to students, finances, HR, and academics and developing processes to forge common data definitions and cross-walks among currently siloed data sets
• Providing data and information resources to support strategic planning, accreditation, institutional effectiveness initiatives, policy formulation, program review, and assessment requirements
• Developing and implementing strategies to effectively communicate institutional research and analyses, e.g., through reports, dashboards, drill-down reporting systems
• Serving as the steward overseeing access to and use of student information and data systems

Conduct statistical forecasts to support institutional planning and assessment in support of the college's mission and strategic initiatives by:
• Support the Office of the Registrar and Institutional Research as technical liaison to IT
• Conducting quantitative and qualitative research for identifying trends related to college functions including, but not limited to, enrollment trends, retention, graduation, demographics, outcomes, and other critical institutional statistics
• Developing and maintaining an understanding of College initiatives and their strategic alignment as well as being responsible for developing and maintaining data dashboards serving internal data needs while working collaboratively with stakeholders to understand their needs and develop clear research objectives and questions
• Supporting and contributing to a culture of data informed decision-making by designing reports that present accurate, consistent data in a clear and compelling manner to technical and non-technical users
• Support the technical needs of the Office of the Registrar and Institutional Research

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
• Bachelor's degree required; bachelor's degree in data analytics, business analytics, applied mathematics, computer science, or comparable discipline (preferred)
• Three to Five (3-5) years of experience in institutional research, registrar's office, data collection, analysis and reporting
• Experience preparing required federal and state reports (e.g., IPEDS and state higher education reporting) with a high degree of accuracy
