Surveillance AV Technician
Under general supervision from the Surveillance Systems Manager, the Surveillance AV Technician will perform installations, repairs, preventative maintenance and assist in evaluating technical issues with surveillance software and equipment. Ensures surveillance systems are in compliance with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community tribal and state gaming compact and the National Indian Gaming Commission Minimum Internal Control Standards (MIC's). This job class is treated as FLSA non-exempt.
Essential Functions: Essential functions may vary among positions and may include the following tasks, knowledge, abilities, skills, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions in this classification.
1. Repairs, troubleshoots, maintains surveillance system components such as, CCTV (Closed-circuit television) equipment, network switches, fixed and PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras, network video recorders (NVRs), storage arrays, computers, printers, monitors and all programing technology.
2. Performs preventative maintenance, with documentation, on all equipment to include but not limited to network switches, NVRs, storage arrays, uninterrupted power systems (UPSs), alarm units, IP cameras, and surveillance network infrastructure.
3. Installs, relocates, and maintains surveillance equipment in accordance with the manufacturer specifications. Installs cameras and surveillance equipment inside and outside the facility to include its gaming areas, parking lots and walkways.
4. Maintains equipment malfunction logs in accordance with the Compact for the surveillance equipment, including all surveillance cameras, video recording equipment, networking equipment any equipment that is attached to the surveillance system or used by the surveillance system.
5. Keeps abreast of changing technology and training as it relates to surveillance software and hardware. Attends training, conferences, and seminars to remain informed of new technologies and techniques in the field.
6. Maintains complete confidentiality at all times. Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies and procedures. Attends all required meetings and training as required.
7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance program and agency operations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
- Knowledge of all gaming procedures and standards of operations.
- Knowledge of ethical consideration in a regulatory and governmental environment relating to tribal gaming operation.
- Knowledge of department's procedures within the casino operations and internal controls.
- Knowledge of surveillance equipment, network equipment and standards
- Knowledge of installing electrical conduit and related equipment to protect camera wiring in indoor and outdoor applications.
- Knowledge in operating CCTV equipment, CCTV theory and networking.
- Knowledge of fiber optic, unshielded twisted pair and coax cabling standards.
- Knowledge of locating various paths for wiring purposes of new cameras.
- Skill in installing and maintenance of CCTV systems, components, and other audio and visual monitoring devices.
- Skill in installing electrical conduit and related equipment to protect camera wiring, include bending and cutting of conduit.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining reports and records.
- Skill in operating computer and software (i.e., Words, Excel, AutoCAD, etc.).
- Skill in effectively evaluating and troubleshooting equipment problems, and perform timely repairs to limit equipment down time.
- Ability to determine the best type of mounting hardware and equipment for various duties and weight capabilities.
- Ability to install camera mounts for various types of mounting locations and surfaces.
- Ability to determine and install the best-suited camera and lens assembly for optimum camera viewing.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to interact with staff, co-workers, and management in a professional manner in order to resolve problems.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to stand, sit and work in enclosed or confined areas for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to lift and feel objects.
- Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
- Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to use close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception or ability to focus on objects.
- Ability to be lift certified and work extended periods of time from a lift and/or ladder.
- Ability to learn casino games, rules and procedures as they pertain to surveillance camera coverage requirements of the Tribal/State Gaming Compact.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED and two (2) years' experience in evaluating, troubleshooting and maintaining surveillance CCTV, fixed and PTZ cameras, NVRs and network switches preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered.
- An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.
Special Requirements:
- May be required to work after normal work hours including non-standard hours in evenings or weekends and participate in the after-hours on-call rotation.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of an extensive background check and drug screening.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain SRPMIC and Arizona State Gaming Licenses.
- Requires the ability to be lift certified and to work extended periods of time from the lift and/or ladders.
- Requires working in facilities subject to regular exposure to secondary smoke.
Prior to hire as an employee, applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Will be required to pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check. Employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
