Lead Technical Trainer – Fabrication

Salary: $60,000–$80,000 annually
Schedule: Primarily 1st Shift; flexibility to work other shifts as needed to support training needs

Greenwood Fabricating & Plating is seeking an experienced Lead Technical Trainer – Fabrication to help strengthen and standardize hands-on technical training within our manufacturing operation.

This is a highly visible, floor-focused role for someone who combines strong fabrication and manufacturing knowledge with the ability to teach, coach, organize, and lead others . The Lead Technical Trainer will provide direct technical training to employees while also supporting and developing a group of designated on-the-job trainers throughout the Fabrication department.

This individual will play an important role in ensuring employees receive consistent training, develop the technical skills necessary to perform independently, and have a clear path for progression during their initial training period.

• Provide hands-on technical training to new and existing employees on fabrication equipment, processes, work instructions, quality requirements, and safe work practices.
• Lead, support, and coach designated on-the-job trainers to promote consistent training methods and expectations across the department.
• Monitor employee progress throughout the 90-day training process and help evaluate competency and readiness for independent work.
• Conduct job observations and competency evaluations to identify training needs and skill gaps.
• Serve as a technical resource for trainers and employees when additional coaching, troubleshooting, or skill development is needed.
• Partner with Production, Human Resources, Quality, Engineering, and subject matter experts to improve training effectiveness.
• Assist with the development and continuous improvement of work instructions, assessments, visual aids, and other technical training materials.
• Help identify recurring quality, productivity, safety, or process issues that may indicate a training opportunity.
• Support cross-training and employee development initiatives that improve workforce flexibility.
• Maintain the technical proficiency necessary to safely demonstrate fabrication equipment and processes.

• Strong technical background in metal fabrication, machining, CNC operations, or a closely related manufacturing environment .
• Minimum of 3 years of applicable manufacturing, fabrication, machining, technical training, or related experience .
• Demonstrated ability to understand manufacturing equipment, processes, troubleshooting, and quality expectations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, work instructions, and manufacturing specifications .
• Experience training, mentoring, coaching, or developing employees in a hands-on environment.
• Ability to lead and coordinate a group of on-the-job trainers while building consistency and accountability.
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills, with the ability to track multiple employees at different stages of training.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable working directly on the production floor and demonstrating equipment and processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and the ability to learn company-specific systems.
• Ability and willingness to work primarily 1st shift while adjusting hours or working other shifts as needed to meet training needs .

Technical training is more than showing someone how to operate a machine. This position will help create a consistent training experience in which employees understand how to perform the job, why requirements matter, how to troubleshoot problems, and when they are truly ready to work independently .

The Lead Technical Trainer will help connect our experienced workforce with the next generation of skilled employees while strengthening the systems, documentation, and trainer expectations that support long-term employee success.

Salary Range: $60,000–$80,000 annually , based on relevant technical experience, training experience, and qualifications.
