HVAC Service Manager

The EHS Program Leader – Division Safety provides strategic program leadership of employee safety management. Identifies and manages significant safety hazards, keeping accurate and complete safety metrics, assuring that risk assessments are thoroughly completed on a timely basis. Completion of required safety related training, managing interfaces with governmental authorities, and supporting actions during and following a crisis in which safety technical expertise is required, and driving a Culture of Zero through layers of protection in safety including behavioral safety.

• Provides technical strategic and tactical safety management support including defines objectives and targets, establishes of corrective and preventive action plans, communicates of regulatory requirements, identifies and shares transferrable practices, evaluates and develops safety management talent, and provides necessary support for site safety management programs.
• Directs development and implements safety management strategic plan designed to produce world-class performance.
• Conducts facility safety risk assessments to identify high-risk operations and determine needed courses of action, conducts analysis, develops mitigation plans and practices, makes recommendations as warranted and assists with closing gaps as appropriate.
• Develops and deploys safety related directives and standards (including Life Saving Elements). Provides safety management training and conducts risk assessments at various locations. Assists sites with their assessment process, mitigation recommendations, and follow-up.
• Develops and manages systems and practices that encourage continual improvement in safety performance at each of the facilities. Facilitates evaluation and implementation of fiscally and socially responsible methods of reducing safety risk for employees. Provides direction around opportunities in the reduction of safety risk factors in the workplace.
• Develops safety management training programs that meet or exceed federal, state, and / or local requirements. Develops and provides train the trainer programs to cascade training to those within the organization.
• Develops the strategy and process to leverage behavioral safety fundamentals to engage all levels of the organization in transforming the culture within Tenneco to a value of a Culture of Zero.
• Builds organization capability by providing safety management training and development of EHS professionals to ensure each site within the organization has the appropriate technical and functional competencies.

Education / Experience / Skills:

Education / Experience :

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Biology, Chemistry, or other science related field.

• Relevant advanced Degree recommended.

• 10+ years of Safety experience in a variety of manufacturing industries.
• Professional certification preferred (Certified Safety Professional, or country equivalent)

Skills :

• Thorough knowledge of safety management technology and practices.
• Adept at utilization of company-wide system for reporting environmental data and Information.
• Self-starter, able to work with or lead cross-functional teams.
• Prior experience or education with an emphasis in environmental, health and safety program management and employee training.
• Analytical and data driven skill set to evaluate data and develop action planning.
• Ability to help drive a Zero Incident Culture.
• Must have clear communication and writing skills in English.
• Strong team-building skills and ability to manage, develop, and direct subordinates.
• Strong organizational skills including ability to manage large number of disparate projects and to track projects through completion.
• Ability to serve as a subject matter expert Safety Management.
• Adept at development and utilization of software solutions.
• Understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes.
• Ability to demonstrate managerial courage (e.g., managing varied interests representing potential conflicts).
• Ability to integrate EHS with other functions

Travel :

• Ability to travel 50% - 75%.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Often required to sit and use their hands and finger, to handle or feel.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance and to stoop kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Vision abilities required include close vision.
• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
