Operations Manager

Position Overview Position Summary: The Operations Manager is responsible for the successful day-to-day management, administration, and reporting of all business activities including, but not limited to, planning, budgeting, scheduling, delivery, inventory accuracy, business metrics, and safety-related functions. Duties aim to optimize current processes to increase operating efficiency and empower employees to be successful. The Operations Manager must adhere to and seek ways to improve the organization’s levels of service and values. Responsibilities Navigate operational demands while communicating internally and service customers/orders effectively. Maintain appropriate inventory levels in the yard and manage damaged inventory. Oversee monthly cycle counting and close-out procedures. Understand the financial operations of volume-buying, selling, profit margins, and P&L statements. Ensure all delivery personnel adhere to OSHA and GMS policies while working in the warehouse, operating equipment, and at the jobsite. Conduct weekly and monthly GMS management safety reviews in collaboration with the Safety Manager. Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of warehouse and yard areas. Manage full-cycle delivery by removing damaged materials, ensuring orders are stocked correctly, and checked off by the appropriate manager. Maintain open and clear communication with customers regarding any issues related to orders or delivery. Coordinate daily activities of all team members; motivate the team to achieve productivity, safety, quality, and job knowledge goals. Collaborate across departments to drive productivity and foster an inclusive environment that respects diverse backgrounds. Set and continually improve performance plans; generate creative solutions to improve processes. Maintain service levels throughout the process; may prepare and track lien releases as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree Minimum of 3 years of related work experience Strong Microsoft Office skills Effective team player and leader with strong communication skills Experience in and knowledge of the construction industry and building materials is strongly preferred Distribution experience is preferred Core Competencies Display trust and integrity; champion servant leadership and value diverse opinions. Physical and Cognitive Requirements Physical: Will occasionally move about inside the office to access files and operate basic office machinery; must be able to work in an office, warehouse, and on a job site and communicate accurately with team members and management. Cognitive: Must be able to problem solve, prioritize tasks, manage stress, multitask, analyze information, communicate solutions quickly, and exercise sound judgement and initiative.
