Washington University seeks an advancement professional to join University Advancement in the position of Stewardship Officer, Olin School of Business.
University Advancement strives to advance the institution's mission by creating a culture of philanthropy among alumni, students, faculty, and friends. With the 2025 public launch of the With You Campaign, WashU is ambitiously pursuing solutions to the world's greatest challenges-to make a more promising future for all. Olin is well positioned to advance the campaign's promise by leveraging the school's strategic plan and its priorities of the Business of Health, Individualized Education, and Regional Partnerships.
The Stewardship Officer will report to the Executive Director for Advancement, Olin School of Business and will serve as a subject matter expert on stewardship activities for the school. They will work with leadership to acknowledge donors and coordinate students' engagement with University Advancement. The Officer will collaborate with Donor Relations to ensure Olin donors receive comprehensive scholarship and impact reporting. The incumbent plays a critical role in ensuring long-term donor satisfaction and maximizing the impact of donor support.
This role requires strong relationship, analytical, and communication skills and a deep understanding of donor engagement. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful collaborations with colleagues across departments, divisions, or Schools. $53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Curate Gift Acknowledgements from Deans and Leaders Craft and curate gift acknowledgements from the Dean and other leaders as needed:
- Set thresholds for acknowledgement, in coordination with Donor Relations and other Philanthropic Strategy teams.
- Review gift reports; pulling data for acknowledgement letters.
- Draft letters, personalizing as appropriate.
- Facilitate the dean's office review and signature.
- Support Professorship installations and other donor recognition events, in coordination with Special Events.
- Act as the relationship manager for Olin prospects in permanent stewardship.
- Occasionally, serve on a relationship management team for Olin prospects who require specific stewardship plans and are not managed by a Donor Relations Officer.
- Request for speakers and/or student representatives at events, videos, and content.
- Liaising with student groups.
- Support thank you note events, in coordination with centrally organized Donor Relations events.
- Facilitate donor-student connections in events or other ad hoc activities.
- Survey and match students to named scholarships.
- Prepare student snapshots and scholarship profiles.
- Respond to inquiries on scholarships from colleagues, donors, students, and parents.
- Research giving history and collecting impact data from beneficiaries.
- Draft content and produce final reports.
- Supporting Donor Relations Officers and/or school colleagues to produce impact reports by providing content and review.
- Coordinate between Donor Relations and the School's Finance Office.
- Review accounts, both endowed and spendable, to identify funds that should be addressed with the Executive Director.
- Upkeep records for awarded scholarships and professorships in the CRM.
- Track endowed professorship assignments and coordinate impact report process in collaboration with Donor Relations.
- Support the development of budgets for unit activity.
- Support the creation and implement annual operational plans (events calendar, communication calendar, OKRs, etc.)
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and departments to gather information and project updates for donor communication and stewardship purposes.
